How to teach our children how to remain connected to our Land - by Phyllis Stern, Netanya

How to teach our children how to remain connected to our Land
Phyllis Stern, Netanya
I fail to understand why it is wrong to incorporate religious elements into the schools.

Unless I am mistaken, this is a Jewish Country and we are surely obliged to teach our children how to remain connected to our Land,  and to have a knowledge of what it is to be Jewish and all that it entails.

If people are afraid of this and/or embarrassed, then there is something fundamentally wrong with their outlook and possibly they themselves lack Jewish education.

Ram Vromen chairman of the NGO secular forum argues that it will alienate non religious pupils and should either be put on hold or revised significantly with the religious subjects treated from a truly secular perspective. Has Vromen given any thought to the fact that the non religious pupils might actually enjoy being taught about their religion?  I realize it could be serious if the non religious pupils took back to their secular homes, some Yiddishkeit; to actually begin to think about their religion and what it means to them.  Shock and horror, they might even want to keep kosher.

The tragic events that followed after Moshe Dayan gave up our Temple Mount to the Arabs after the costly re liberation of Jerusalem in 1967 was from a complete lack of connection to our religion and what it means for the Jewish People.
